for those that weren't there at last weeks meeting, a buddy of mine is a huuuuuuge star wars fan (if you've seen that "Fanboys" movie...yeah, like that). He asked me to draw an alternate version of Darth Vader; if he had won the fight at the end of Episode III, killed the emperor and ruled the galaxy on his own. My take has him a battered soul, fearful of his future and regretful of his past. I tried to make homage to his mask by way of the beard, it has a very angular look to it and hope its not too subtle. Im pleased with it, but see a lot where i could have done better, now that i've completed it (i might add some things later on though). But this is the best i've down thus far, and am looking forward to seeing further progress in future work.

This is nice, Chris. Great to see you improving!
My critique would be to more visually "isolate" the seated figure -metaphorically helping the emotion of the piece also - by further subduing/darkening the background behind the character. This would add more depth (and assist in keeping the composition from blending into one visual plane).
Also, if you are a fan of using the Photoshop filters I'd recommend using a lighting "trick" for added drama. The Filter/Render/Lighting Effect filter would add some interesting dramatic things to this piece if you positioned the Spotlight option coming from the top right, which would enhance what you already have going on now!
Yay finally someone posted something!
You really have been improving Chris, that's just great! I love the mix of the red with the somber colors. Even though red is usually an overpowering color it's not so strong here that it's distracting or overdone. It still has a quiet sense of loneliness. Maybe as an experiment you could add very subtle green shadows, since its red's compliment and compliments are supposed to be amazing and whatever.
And now I'm just blathering. Great job! I hope your friend likes it.
